The Island of Wait (2021)

Risto Salminen spent a lifetime hiding from the traumas of his childhood in Northern Finland. When he dies, he hopes he can leave it all behind and drift peacefully into the White. To his surprise, he awakens in the afterlife as the leader of a group of Bearers, which includes his nine-year old sister Annika and the seven-foot-four behemoth Lar. The Bearers are tasked with bringing the souls of deceased children to The Island of Wait, a mysterious middle ground between death and life again.

Risto has been lead to believe that everything that happens in life and the afterlife is predetermined by some higher power. That the path we walk on is laid out for us the moment we are born. And therefore cannot be changed. With each new charge Risto and his Bearers bring to the Island, he becomes more and more unsettled by not only his position and his purpose in the afterlife, but also by the realization that he wasn’t the man he thought he was while alive on Earth.

When a young boy named Jacks is killed in a hit and run and begs to be returned to his body so he can save his sister from her abusive stepfather, Risto begins to understand the complexities and corruptive abilities of human emotion. He steps off the path to help Jacks save his sister, and in doing so, learns just how enlightening . . . and how dangerous it is to go against the will of the Universe.

White Flamingos (February 2027)

For decades, campers and hikers have gone missing in the Liddel Valley. With no bodies ever found, the kids in the neighbouring town, Penelope, begin making up stories about a trio of giants that roam the valley eating people. The stories, based on half truths and might-have-beens, eventually become urban legend. “Don’t go too far off the trail or the Liddel Giants will get ya.”

Maggie Cartwright’s life is falling apart for the umpteenth time and another relationship is about to end. So why not go for a hike and put it all aside for a few hours? Maggie is coaxed into the Liddel Valley one last time with her soon-to-be ex, Trevor and their dog Damocles. The hike quickly becomes a living nightmare when the mythical Liddel Giants appear, trying to fix a nightmare of their own. But they’re not the only monsters in the Liddel Valley during that fateful Autumn day. The full moon has awoken something far more dangerous, and it has a hunger for everyone and everything around it.
